The path
A certificate is the last step,
not the first claim.
The Australian file is followed here from application to marking, because every stage of it is on this page. The other two markets run the same shape through their own bodies.

Application and test programme
The configuration is submitted and an application number is allocated. AGA set the test programme against the standard before any testing began — for this file, AGA application 20295.

Independent laboratory test
An accredited laboratory tests the submitted sample against the standard. This file was tested by CCIC-CSA International Certification Co., Ltd. in Guangzhou, accredited to ISO/IEC 17025 under accreditation number TL-464.

Sample modification and re-test
Where a test requires a change, the sample is modified and re-run rather than argued past. This file records a modified exhaust outlet and a mesh wind barrier fitted at the bottom before the tests passed.

Review and certificate
The scheme reviews the report and issues the certificate if the results stand. AGA recorded the results as satisfactory with no further assessment required, and issued certificate 9358.

Production audit
The certificate is not the end of the obligation. AGA require a Product Verification Audit — arranged when the first production batch is ready. For this file that audit is outstanding.

Marking before supply
Nothing ships before the unit carries its marks. AGA require a Maker's Warranty Badge or an AGAMark under licence, plus the Gas Compliance Mark, on every production unit.
The certifying body's condition on the mark
CSA make the certificate conditional on a production test plan run at the factory and documented for their field services representatives. These are CSA's conditions on the mark, not our own line controls — how the line itself is gated is on the quality control page.

Certification attaches to the configuration that was tested
Certification covers the configurations listed above and nothing else. A model outside them is not covered, and a change to a covered one re-opens the file — which is why the alterations record sits below. What applies to your order is confirmed in writing.
Our position on certification claimsThe tested configuration
A live file records what changed,
and closes it.
Certification tests a specific build. When the build changes, the file records the change and the unit is re-tested before the certificate stands — including when a test fails first.
Sample modification
The submitted sample was recorded with a modified exhaust outlet and a mesh wind barrier at the bottom — the change the wind test required. The tests were then passed.
Resolved before issueIgnition period
The delayed ignition test failed because the flame flashed out of the appliance. The ignition period was changed from 4 seconds to 1.5 seconds, and the report records the alteration.

Every certification file accumulates notes like these. A file that shows only the passes has been summarised; this one records the change and the fix together, which is the only form in which it is useful to a buyer.

Each scheme requires its own mark before a unit may be supplied. These are the marks to look for on the article, and the markings the documents require alongside them.
AGA Maker's Warranty Badge or AGAMark
On every production unit, for the currency of the certification
The badge must be purchased from AGA; the AGAMark is applied under licence. Either way the Gas Compliance Mark is required as well.
CSA Mark with C and US indicators
C and US for both countries, US alone for the United States, neither for Canada alone
Units certified for Canada must carry every caution and warning marking in both English and French.
CE marking
On the unit, under the directive named in the verification
The marking declares conformity with the directive the verification of conformity was issued against.
The holder's registered name appears on the certificate exactly as issued. Match the mark on the unit against the document number, not against the brand alone.

Before you order
The certificate questions a buyer asks
Which document applies, what is covered, and what the file does not claim.
01Which certificate applies to the unit I order?
It depends on the destination market and the exact configuration. Each document in the file lists the model numbers it covers, and those lists do not overlap across markets — an -AU unit is covered by the Australian certificate and not by the North American one. Tell us the market and the configuration and we will confirm which document applies, in writing, before the order.
02Can I see the certificates before placing an order?
Yes — that is what this page is. Every certificate, letter and laboratory report behind the marks is published in full and downloadable, so your compliance lead can read the source documents rather than take our word for the standard.
03The laboratory report is marked Draft. Is it valid?
It is the working report the certificate was issued on, published as it stands rather than cleaned up. The certificate itself — the document that carries the mark — is the issued version and sits alongside it in the file. We publish the draft because it is the document containing the test detail, and hiding it would make the file less useful.
04Does the European verification cover the gas appliance?
No, and we state that rather than let it be assumed. The European document is a verification of conformity for a battery-operated shower system under the Low Voltage Directive, which covers electrical safety. The directive it names is printed on the document, and it should be read with that scope.
05What happens if you change something on a certified model?
The change is recorded against the certification and the affected tests are re-run before the certificate stands. Our own change-control process — how one approved sample is held as the reference for a whole run — is on the manufacturing page; this page records the changes the certification bodies themselves noted.
06Why is a production audit still outstanding on the Australian file?
Because the certificate is issued before the audit, not after it. AGA require a Product Verification Audit to be arranged when the first production batch is ready, and we would rather publish that than present a complete-looking file. It is the normal sequence, and it will be closed when the first batch runs.
